Thanks for the links Burn. I was very moved by the audio of the lady who was converted. Christianity isn't just about filling your head with knowledge. We have to take an active roll in helping and caring for one another. Sometimes we have little pity parties and then we realize that most other people have it so much worse. I've taken communion for the past four years and it means a lot to me. I would love to attend a Messianic seder some day.

Diary of a thinking to return ex-Jw

i thought long and hard about posting this but the mis-information on this site finally persuaded me, i already accept many may not accept what i say on face value and get their appologist pens ready for making sure no pro-witness propaganda slips through the net on this site but here goes....... i've been on this forum for a few months my first post was about how i was thinking of returning to jw's and at my sisters recommendation to look at this site for both sides of the story before taking that step.. i faded from jw's 10/11 years ago now i left my hubby at the time divorced him to going on to have more relationships and kids, i was definately given the impression after asking on this site and with what i read that if i tried to return i might face df or at least a jc but definately a couple of elders questioning me over what i've been upto these last few years - none of these have happened.

i talked with an old jw friend (yes i do have then and she never shunned me quite happily accepted an offer of coffee from me and my asking for a chat) i told her i was interested in going back and was very frank about what i done in the last 10 years but not sure how returning was done now, she quite happily said she go ask for me to find out.. result!

she came back this week and said "all i had to do was goto meetings again" and an offer of a study was there for me if i wanted it to explore the open doubts that i had expressed i now had.. not quite the fire and brimstone welcome this site led me to believe would happen.. i will keep you posted with further updates if i feel the need to put them in future.. .

Renaia: shortly after submitting my previous post I had this feeling that this was all a set up. I sincerely apologize if I’m wrong. The whole scenerio seems odd to me.

Both you and your sister were born in. You both get pregnant out of wedlock. She wants to get you out of the org. You’re thinking of going back in because you have found out that the world has nothing for you; that it’s morally bankrupt. You stepped out of a safe environment and look what it got you. The world seduced and corrupted you. The org is the only place where you feel loved, the only place that has the truth, sincerety, depth. Christians aren’t deep and don’t read and follow the bible.

Could this be a set up to try and convince others to go back; that there will be no repurcussions and the org will welcome them back with open arms, where they will be loved, accepted and protected from the bad world, where all you see is moral decay. Only they have real love. They may be strict, but at least they aren’t selfish.

If you read the scriptures that I posted did you not get a sense that the org might be seriously wrong? Are you accepting the org’s word that they are the truth, or have you come to that conclusion on your own by reading the bible?

Jesus is the truth. No one church has a monopoly on the truth. I think for the most part mainline churches are in agreement on the really important doctrine. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s up to each individual to seek truth. I feel that the org is way off, so way off that I don’t consider it a Christian organization. If you truly read your bible without JW blinders, praying for guidance and protection, you would see it for yourself.

Mincan: For me Beethoven is the greatest composer of all time. I'm not so much into Baroque but can understand why many would. I do enjoy Mozart very much and once in a while Bach's toccata and fugue in D minor. Some others I enjoy are Dvorak, Schubert & Rachmaninov.

A couple of months ago I came across Jacqueline du Pre. Maybe others have heard of her before but this was my first time.

If the light keeps getting brighter, did early christians have it wrong?

we are all familiar with the light getting brighter.

new 'truths' replacing old 'truths'.. but what i have been thinking about recently, albeit 12 years too late, is that if that light has been getting brighter over the years, surely centruries ago the early christians got it wrong!!!

well they did if we follow that line of thinking.

As a ‘never have been a witness’ I could never understand this new light, but then there’s lot of things about the org that I don’t understand.

After the death of the apostles there was a great apostacy? Then Russel came along and put things straight? But then Rutherford came along and said to dismiss Russell’s beliefs? In 1919 Jesus looked down from heaven and chose this one group of people ? For what reason? What were they doing or not doing that was different from Christian churches? Today you could be disfellowhipped for following either one of their beliefs because of new light? I know that God isn’t stupid. Is he toying with them? Oh, they are imperfect people! Couldn't Jesus just as easily have chosen another group that would eventually see the light getting brighter and brighter?

I thought it was rather strange that my mother always condemned the Catholic church as being evil (such as pedophilia), but when the org did something wrong (pedophilia) it was because they were imperfect men.
